With the discussion going on about subliminal or hidden messages in Disney and pop music, I thought I'd throw in a few examples that may dowse the flames of indignation a bit. I'm sure many, if not all of us remember the movie Shrek. Dreamworks advertised Shrek as a childrens movie, yet much of the humor was obviously aimed at an adult audience. If you ever observe a family watching any of the Shrek films you'll notice that they almost always all laugh at the same jokes, the kids for it being silly and apparently slapstick, and the parents for picking up on the adult overtones.
I don't believe the so-called subliminal messages in Disney movies ever really influence the minds of children. I certainly wasn't running around saying "take off your clothes" after watching Alladin in theaters. The same goes for films such as Shrek, since the youngsters can't or don't comprehend the deeper meaning behind all of the jokes and gags it becomes harmless.
There are shows like Nickolodean's Invader Zim that can potentially warp or skew a child's perspective on things, so there's always exceptions. And believe me, the stuff in Invader Zim is far worse than any of the conspiratorial hidden messages found in Disney films, you just have to look at it a bit harder.
On the subject of things like Lady Ga-Ga having disturbing or subliminal imagery in her songs, I'd be more concerned with rap and hip-hop music videos that that are more explicit, and therefore more noticed, than an off and on pop singer. Remember Madonna's "shocking" music videos that were chock-full of subliminal sexual messages? Yea, me neither.
